How to Search:
The HerbMed® public search feature uses Microsoft Index Server.
Enter any word of your choice as a search term. This may be a health
condition, herb name, scientific or clinical terms, author names,
publication dates, etc. The query engine will search the entire site
and return any relevant herb pages. To find your search term in the
herb page, use the Edit pull down menu, click on Find on this page,
and type in your search term again. Each instance will be highlighted
on the page.
The search engine supports "wildcards" also known as "fuzzy" queries.
By using an asterisk, your query can be broadened to include different
versions of a word.
immun* will be expanded to include: immune, immunization,
immunity, etc.
The search engine supports Boolean operators: AND, OR, and NOT
to refine your search.
allergy AND pollen
will narrow your search and return only references that are related to pollen allergy
allergy OR rhinitis
will broaden your search and return references to either term
allergy NOT pollen
will narrow your search to mentions of allergy that are not pollen related.
Multiple Booleans can be used in one search string and may be combined with parentheses
and wild cards.
antifung* AND (essential oils) AND NOT Artemesia
Results are returned in sets of 20. The pages are ranked based on the relevant features
found and listed in descending rank order. File size is also specified.
